White, well-groomed, flawless!
Beautiful, bright teeth have never been as popular as they are today. But who should do the whitening – the dentist or the patient themselves? Where should you get your teeth whitened – at home or in the clinic? And how do you keep your beautiful, new, white teeth for as long as possible?
Whitening teeth that have darkened means regaining the natural color of your teeth – or even lightening them by a few shades. Because the individual tooth color changes both with age and with one’s own lifestyle, e.g. Nicotine, tea and alcohol consumption.
A major reason for many people is that they feel much more attractive and younger with well-groomed, white teeth. A second motive is that many no longer want to do without restoring the original light shade of their teeth. Thanks to the high level of medical research today, both are possible without damaging the tooth enamel.
The modern, professional treatment methods of teeth whitening lead to noticeably whiter teeth. The three basic variants are tooth bleaching at home, at the dentist or laser bleaching.
TEETH WHITENING AT HOME
Be careful with do-it-yourself bleaching: It seems to be the simplest procedure for the patient to buy commercially available teeth whitening products and bleaching kits and use them themselves.
However, most dental experts advise against this do-it-yourself method: Many of the whitening substances that are freely available in stationary trade only contain active ingredients in small doses and thus achieve weak results. High-dose bleaching products from the Internet, on the other hand, can cause serious damage if the patient uses them without medical advice.
TEETH BLEACHING AT THE DENTIST “IN OFFICE BLEACHING”
In contrast, the professional medication monitored by the dentist guarantees both efficient and tooth-friendly treatment. Bleaching should therefore always be carried out by specialized dental practices or dental assistants.
In this in-office treatment, the dentist uses a medicinal substance that contains a higher concentration of the active ingredient than in “home bleaching”.
The doctor or his or her dental assistants first cover the sensitive gums and either apply the whitening solution directly to the teeth or fill it in a custom-made tray. Then leave the highly concentrated whitening gel to take effect for around 15 to 30 minutes.
LASER-BLEACHING
With the help of laser, bleaching can also be carried out quickly and easily. Thanks to the precise light beam of the laser, it is also possible to whiten a single tooth, for example in the case of individual discolorations. We also offer laser bleaching for the entire upper or lower jaw. As a rule, only one session with the laser is necessary to gently whiten your teeth.
The duration of the bleaching depends on the number of teeth to be bleached. Tooth whitening of the entire upper and lower jaw takes about an hour. Most people only need one session, rarely does it take more than one session to achieve the desired level of brightness.
The laser treatment does not cause pain, but your teeth may be more sensitive for a day or two afterwards.
